Short n’ Sweet!
I’m a human.
My name is Claire, and I’m a human. These blogs will be written by humans without the help of AI, so you can know it’s sincere. Apologies to Mrs. Talley, in advance, who tried to teach me how to use commas in 11th grade - a skill I never quite mastered, but I still try.
Short Stuff
These blogs will be short. Why? Because I am a bookkeeper, not a writer. I like numbers more than words. Why else? Because I hate reading blogs. They’re long-winded. Sometimes I just want the recipe, not a history of the person who holds it. So with that in mind, onward…
Why are you here?
Let’s do this Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-Style. Whichever of the following reasons brought you here, scroll down to that heading to read more.
Option 1) The internet served you up a picture of our cute mascot, Hamish, and you thought, “Awww. I’m clicking on him!”
Option 2) You love reading blogs about bookkeeping. Hey - to each his/her/their own.
Option 3) You’re considering hiring a bookkeeper, you found my info, and you want to know if I’m legit. (Spoiler alert: I am.)
Option 4) None of the above.
Option 1: Hamish
Click here to see Hamish’s (and his cousin’s) latest adventures. You’re welcome!
Option 2: You love bookkeeping blogs!
Cool. (Weird… but cool.) Lucky for you, we’re creating a whole blog series about just that very topic! Click here to see more!
Option 3: Is Ox Boox Legit?
Yes we are. I’ll elaborate.
Experience: I started Ox Boox in 2023 after working for a CPA as a bookkeeper. Ox Boox is registered in NC and insured. Since Ox Boox was founded, we have served 13 clients to date and have kept the books for 19 entities. Some are LLCs, some are corporations, one is a nonprofit. Our clients are small business owners in industries including marketing, photography, wellness, manufacturing, retail, sustainability solutions, membership-based businesses, HVAC, restaurants, bakeries, breweries, construction, writers, and real estate. Our clients have written positive reviews, so check them out! We are thrilled to have happy clients! (P.S. The angry dentist was not our client. Read it. He meant to review a company called Boox, which is unrelated to us. But that’s ok - everyone has a bad day sometimes, even dentists!)
Mission: Our mission is to offer quality, client-specific services and deliver on our promises. , including being reach-able and responsive. Because of that mission, I choose to keep our client base small, so we can build relationships and offer personalized services for each business. We have grown slowly and steadily. We choose to keep our expenses low, so we can keep our fees low.
Education & Training: I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University and a minor in business management. I have a Masters of Education. I have taken several courses on bookkeeping, including one that taught me how to set up and run a successful bookkeeping business. We have an amazing team who supports our mission and our clients. We are QuickBooks certified, and we renew that certification each year. We are also Gusto certified. We are members of a bookkeeping professional organization that offers us technical and legal help among other resources. To summarize, we love numbers, are obsessed with details, and keep our skills sharp with continuing education.
